Stay Powered Up as the midseason surge hits Season 17 with map reworks, a Hero Trial, team challenges, big rewards, and all kinds of fresh looks to flex. From smarter fights and new Support flows to Champion looks, you’ll want to make your play before the waves crest. Let’s see what’s in store!
Flashpoint Map Reworks
Two maps, one massive Flashpoint rework... New Junk City and Suravasa are ready for their rematches!
Based on your feedback, both maps now feature clearer routes, stronger visual themes, better sightlines, and smarter rotations. Plus, new logic that favors the losing team after mid is capped. From chokes to cover, both maps are rebuilt for faster reads, cleaner fights, and fewer moments where you’re asking, “Wait, where am I?”
For a deeper look into the changes, hop over to our Weekly Recall: Flashpoint Map Reworks blog from Ryan Smith & the Level Design Team. Then flashback to Flashpoint and master the new layouts for yourself!
Test the Waters in Wuyang’s Hero Trial
Before he makes waves in Season 18, Wuyang is stepping in for a limited-time Hero Trial very soon. This rebellious Support Hero from Wuxing University’s Water College is all about rhythm, disruption, and flow-based control. His fluid healing, hybrid damage utility, and graceful mobility make for Support done differently. Expect a learning curve with some serious splash potential.
Dive in and master the flow early in Wuyang’s Hero Trial, available from August 14–18!
It’s Still Better Together
Overwatch is always better with backup! From July 29 to August 25, you’ll get rewarded for rolling with your crew. Complete 2, 4, and 6 games with a group to unlock up to three Loot Boxes, with each milestone paying out once. Just completing the games is all it takes, but wins and Stadium matches count double, so bring your A-game. So, buddy up and battle it out again to finish the season strong, whether that's rallying old friends or queuing with new ones. Have some fun, it's Better Together.
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt is On Again
From August 1 to August 3, Junkrat’s back with another blast of chaos and it’ll be raining loot again (also probably shrapnel).
Junkrat’s Loot Hunt is bringing daily match challenges that will unlock 3 Loot Boxes per day and up to 9 Loot Boxes total. Play 2, 5, and 10 matches each day to hit your milestones and stack the rewards. Progress resets daily at 11AM PT, so you’ve got a fresh chance to go boom every morning.
This event is short, so get in, get those games, and claim what’s yours before it all goes up in smoke.
Season 17 Drives
Competitive Drives return August 21–25, and this time, the rules have changed. You’ll earn Drive Score from wins only, rank no longer plays a part. That means every victory counts, and every loss only stings after your first checkpoint. Climb high enough and you’ll unlock the Season 17 Signature or go even further and earn a Prestige upgrade if you crushed it last time.
Progress is checkpoint-based, and yes—it takes more wins to hit the top tier this time. But the best part? For the first time ever, you can earn Drive Score in both Core Competitive and Stadium. Bring your squad too, because wins with friends come with a Drive Score bonus. As always, the glory and bragging rights are worth the climb. So, group up and let’s drive. The road to the top starts on August 21.
